Suspected Ebola cases in Adamawa test negative
Two suspected cases in Adamawa have tested negative for Ebola, leaving Abuja with the only confirmed infection.

Two suspected cases of Ebola Virus Disease in Adamawa State tested negative after two rounds of laboratory tests. The NCDC confirmed the results and stated that the earlier case in the Federal Capital Territory remains the only confirmed infection in the country.
The two individuals showed symptoms of Ebola in Yola and authorities isolated them during investigations. The Director-General of the NCDC, Dr Jide Idris, stated that the Adamawa State Public Health Emergency Operations Centre received the report on October 30, 2026. Laboratory tests on the samples returned negative results for the virus.
Contact Tracing and Previous Cases
The NCDC started contact tracing to find people who might have been exposed while tests were underway. The NCDC Incident Manager for Ebola, Dr Odianosen Ehiakhamen, stated on the Nigerian Television Authority that six people who finished a 21-day monitoring period without symptoms were set to leave a quarantine facility. This group included three healthcare workers, two domestic staff members, and a driver.
This follows the confirmation of Nigeria's first imported case of Ebola virus disease in Abuja on October 20, 2026. The Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, stated that the infected woman arrived from Uganda, fell sick on October 7, and visited a private hospital in Abuja on October 11. Health authorities traced 44 contacts at first, and the number later rose to 53. Medical teams evacuated the woman to Switzerland on October 26 along with her husband, who showed no symptoms.
