LAUTECH ASUU begins indefinite strike over unpaid allowances and governance
Academic activities are grounded at LAUTECH as lecturers begin an indefinite strike over unpaid allowances and governance concerns.

Academic and related activities have been grounded at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, after the university's Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) began an indefinite strike on Thursday, according to the Nigerian Tribune. The union had earlier given a 14‑day ultimatum to management demanding full implementation of the 2025 FGN‑ASUU Agreement, payment of arrears from January 2026, and settlement of all outstanding Earned Academic Allowances and promotion arrears covering 2013 to 2025.
The statement noted that the December 2025 FGN‑ASUU Agreement had been formally accepted and approved for implementation by LAUTECH's Governing Council, yet the administration repeatedly cited a lack of funds as the reason for non‑implementation. The union also seeks resolution of non‑financial matters, including the composition of the staff disciplinary committee, the recomposition of the Committee of Provosts and Deans, and transparency of the electronic voting system.
In a joint statement signed by branch Chairperson Prof Olujimi Dada and Secretary Dr Soji Arinola, the union expressed deep frustration, saying multiple formal and informal dialogue attempts had been ignored by the authorities. The union urged its members to remain resolute and reminded them that only information or directives directly from the branch Chairperson should Be considered authentic.
