LAUTECH staff begin indefinite ASUU strike after ultimatum expires
Academic activities halt as LAUTECH staff and ASUU start an indefinite strike after a 14‑day ultimatum on the 2025 federal‑ASUU agreement and arrears expired.

Academic activities at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, have stopped. The university chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) began an indefinite strike on Thursday. The strike follows the expiry of a 14‑day ultimatum that demanded implementation of the 2025 Federal Government‑ASUU Agreement and payment of arrears dating from January 2026.
ASUU also seeks immediate payment of outstanding Earned Academic Allowances and promotion arrears covering 2013 to 2025. The union says the Governing Council approved the December 2025 agreement, but management repeatedly cited lack of funds for delays. Beyond finance, the union wants resolution of governance issues, including the composition of the Staff Disciplinary Committee, reconstitution of the Committee of Provosts and Deans, and transparency in the electronic voting system.
In a joint statement signed by branch Chairperson Prof. Olujimi Dada and Secretary Dr Soji Arinola, the union expressed frustration at the failure to resolve these matters despite formal and informal dialogue. It announced the indefinite strike after exhausting all avenues of engagement and urged members to stay united, stressing that only directives issued by the branch chairperson are authentic.
