Grey builds credit services for remote workers with foreign salaries
Traditional lenders often overlook foreign income, but Grey wants to use six years of data to offer credit to remote workers.

Cross-border payments company Grey is developing credit services for remote workers using their foreign currency salary records, according to TechCabal. Idorenyin Obong, Grey co-founder and chief executive officer, announced the plans at Moonshot by TechCabal 2026 in Lagos, Nigeria.
Traditional lenders struggle to assess professionals earning internationally because conventional credit bureaus have limited visibility into foreign income. Grey plans to solve this by using income and transaction data accumulated over the past six years. Obong stated that the offering builds on their own data and income intelligence from the last five to six years.
Paycheck Launch and Features
The planned credit service is part of Grey's expansion into salary management following the launch of Paycheck. The product allows professionals earning in US dollars, British pounds, and euros to automatically divide their salaries between spending, savings, and emergency funds. For example, a customer receiving one thousand dollars monthly can allocate twenty percent to savings, ten percent to other financial needs, and retain seventy percent for immediate expenses. Users can adjust these allocations rather than follow a fixed spending formula.
Eligible Paycheck customers can earn up to three percent annual interest on their US dollar Pouch, which is Grey's savings feature. The product also includes an emergency fund designed to help users save three months of salary over a year, alongside salary tracking and other account benefits. Obong stated that Grey wants to build more around the lifestyle of salary customers, including support for flight bookings and eSIMs for international travel.
Availability and Requirements
Grey has not announced when the credit feature will become available, and the company has not disclosed proposed lending rates or borrowing limits. For now, Paycheck is starting with customers earning at least three hundred dollars in foreign-currency salaries. While salary management and savings benefits are already active, the upcoming credit offering aims to support remote workers whose international earnings are typically overlooked by traditional lenders.
