Karim Adeyemi Foundation restocks first aid kits in fifty Oyo schools
Fifty Oyo primary schools received refilled first aid boxes and emergency training for teachers and pupils under the Safe Schools Initiative.
The Karim Adeyemi Foundation has refilled first aid boxes in fifty public primary schools in Oyo State. It also delivered refresher training in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation for teachers and pupils. The activity took place on Tuesday at I.D.C. Primary School, Gbagi, Ibadan. It involved schools from Oluyole, Egbeda, Ona Ara, Ido, Lagelu and Akinyele local government areas.
This restocking forms Phase II of the Safe Schools Initiative. The project aims to improve emergency preparedness and create a safer learning environment across the state. Under this phase, the Foundation upgraded the kits with standardised medical supplies. It repeated practical training for staff and learners, and introduced an anonymous feedback process to assess impact and guide a planned expansion in 2027.
Mogaji Abiodun Adeyemi, President of KAF, said the second phase demonstrates the organisation's commitment to sustaining its interventions in public schools. He recalled that the initiative began more than a year ago. KAF partnered with the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board and the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Oyo State Branch, to supply FastCare first aid kits to the same fifty schools and provide initial training.
Dr Nuremi Adeniran, Executive Chairman of SUBEB, praised KAF for its continued dedication to pupil safety and emergency preparedness. He highlighted the importance of the replenishment and the refresher training. He noted that quality basic education includes a safe environment for both learners and teachers. The chairman also acknowledged the technical support of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, describing it as vital to building a culture of safety in schools.
Representatives from participating schools, such as Adeogun Samson of Islamic Mission School III, expressed gratitude for the donations. They affirmed that they would apply the skills gained during the training. KAF called on socially responsible organisations and individuals to support the programme financially and through strategic partnerships. The goal is to extend the benefits to more pupils across Oyo State.
The Safe Schools Initiative continues to monitor usage data and feedback. The plan is to refine the programme and expand it in 2027, which will strengthen the capacity of Oyo primary schools to respond to medical emergencies.
