Ebola contacts rise to 53 as federal government plans treatment centres
The federal government is setting up treatment centres in key states and expanding isolation capacity as contacts rise to 53.

The Federal Government is stepping up its Ebola response, with 53 contacts now identified and plans under way for treatment centres in states with designated ports of entry. The plan includes assessing isolation capacity at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital and conducting an infection prevention and control assessment at Karu General Hospital.
According to an Ebola situation report obtained by our correspondent, authorities are also working to create referral mechanisms for suspected cases, strengthen surveillance at ports of entry and improve the capacity of healthcare facilities to manage possible infections. These measures aim to boost the country’s preparedness for any spread of the disease.
