HYT bootcamp trains 30 women for sales jobs

Thirty young Nigerian women have completed a five-day employability bootcamp designed to prepare them for sales roles in the financial sector and fast-moving consumer goods, according to BusinessDay. The training took place from October 5 to 9, 2026, in Lagos.

This bootcamp formed part of the pilot cohort of the Talent Technology Service Nigeria Program. The initiative is led by Tech4Dev in partnership with Univelcity, Semicolon and the Policy Innovation Centre, with support from the Mastercard Foundation. The broader target is to train 30,000 Nigerian women aged 18 to 35 and connect at least 25,000 to employment opportunities, including business process outsourcing.

Training and Partners

HYT Consulting, a human capital development and outsourcing firm, delivered the training alongside Semicolon. The programme focused on practical, competency-based learning to ready participants for entry-level sales positions. Folusho Odegbaike, founder and chief executive officer of HYT Consulting, stated that employability initiatives must bridge the gap between skills jobseekers have and what employers need. Odegbaike noted that improving women's access to workplace skills expands talent pools for businesses and supports economic participation.

Oluwatoyin Ashipa, head of communications at the TTS Nigeria Program, explained that industry partnerships make training more relevant to workplace needs. Simisola Aluko, senior learning manager at the programme, added that working with specialist training providers links competency-based learning with formal employment opportunities. The completion of this pilot cohort marks an initial training milestone for the participants.
