FUST Kabo secures accreditation for 20 courses ahead of maiden session
The newly established university in Kano State has received approval for twenty programmes, including medical courses, ahead of its first academic session.

The Federal University of Science and Technology, Kabo in Kano State has secured accreditation for 20 courses, including medical programmes, ahead of its maiden academic session. The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, congratulated the management of the institution following the accreditation.
The Deputy Senate President made the remarks on Thursday when the Pro-Chancellor and Chairperson of the university governing council, Chief Grace Titilayo Laoye-Tomori, led council members on a courtesy visit to him at the National Assembly in Abuja. Laoye-Tomori is a former Deputy Governor of Osun State, and Barau represents Kano North Senatorial District. Laoye-Tomori described the accreditation as a milestone that has positioned the institution to begin academic activities on a solid foundation.
Laoye-Tomori commended Barau for his contributions to the establishment of the institution. She stated that Barau initiated the process in 2016 by sponsoring a bill for the establishment of the Federal Polytechnic, Kabo, before facilitating its conversion into a full-fledged university in 2025. She also expressed appreciation to the Senator on behalf of the governing council, management, staff and students.
In his response, Barau expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing the bill that facilitated the conversion of the institution into a university. He urged the governing council, management and staff to sustain the achievement by upholding high standards of academic excellence. Barau also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the university to ensure young people have access to quality education.
